Oak Ridge (WVLT) - Hundreds of security police officers at the Y-12 Nuclear Weapons Plant have a new five year contract.
We spoke with the head of the officers' and he told us the new contract was ratified Tuesday night.
It didn't have the full endorsement of the union leadership, but union officials said it wasn't a bad offer.
If the contract had not been approved, a strike may have been possible.
It would have been the first security police officers' strike since 1982.
We spoke with a spokesperson from Wackenhut by phone, and she told us that Wackenhut is excited to move forward and continue doing the work they've done so well.
