Knoxville (WVLT) It'll soon be a lot easier to get to the beaches of Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and West Palm Beach from Knoxville.
Sources in the aviation industry tell Volunteer TV News that Allegiant Air will announce round-trip, non-stop flights from Knoxville to Fort Lauderdale during a news conference tomorrow.
The Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority has scheduled a news conference for tomorrow at 10 am.
Sources tell Volunteer TV the new service will begin by the end of the year, and Allegiant plans to offer special low introductory fares on the route shortly after the announcement.
Allegiant current serves Tampa-St. Petersburg, Orlando, and Las Vegas direct from Knoxville.
In June, 95 percent of seats on Allegiant flights were full out of Knoxville.
That number increased to 96% in July.
