MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- A judge has denied a request by state Senator Ophelia Ford of Memphis to have the state pay the attorney fees she incurred after being ousted from the Legislature.
She sued the Tennessee Senate after the Senate voted to void the results of a 2005 special election that gave her a seat in the Senate. Senators were concerned by several questionable ballots.
But Ford's suit became moot and was dismissed after she was again elected to the office in the regular election last year.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Diane Vescovo ruled that Ford was not entitled to reimbursement for $129,000 in fees because she did not win her lawsuit.
