(Monroe Co.) WVLT - Sweetwater police respond to a loud music complaint at an area hotel and instead find what they believe to be a high stakes poker game.

Sweetwater police say they responded to a complaint at room 129 of the Best Value Inn near the interstate Friday night.

But when officers arrived, they say they found a poker game going on and seized more than $25,000 in cash.

Joe Scruggs with the Sweetwater Police Department says their investigation shows it just wasn't a one night meeting, "This had been going on for two years every Friday night. Out of the six guys that were there, several of them were from out of town, Crossville, Pikeville...some from here. Some from McMinn county."

Detective Scruggs says they plan to present their evidence to a Monroe County grand jury for possible charges.
