Seymour (WVLT) No air conditioning means a four day weekend for some students in Sevier County.

Seymour Intermediate School cancelled classes on Friday because of air conditioning problems.

Those issues will take through Monday to be fixed, so school will also be canceled Monday at Seymour Intermediate.

Teachers will be required to report on Monday.

One more reason (among many) to move back the start date of schools. Starting school the day after Labor Day would save hundreds of thousands in utility costs per county, and not put such huge demands on the existing HVAC systems at our schools. Furthermore, the top states ranked academically all start school in late Aug/early Sept. Tennessee is ranked 40th.
