Knoxville (WVLT) -- About two hours after a Rural/Metro Ambulance collided with an SUV, a Knoxville police officer was involved in a wreck on I-40 east.
Just before 11 another driver signaled over the officer between the West Hills and Papermill exits.
She turned on her blue lights to help out.
"As the officer was also trying to pull over to respond to what she believed was an emergency, a vehicle from behind struck her, not realizing that she was pulling over to assist this other motorist," said KPD Lt. Shawna Williams.
No one was injured, but both cars suffered fender damage.
The driver who rear-ended the cruiser has been cited for driving on a suspended license.
