Daily Beast: Tenn. most corrupt state in U.S.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Corruption is a problem in Tennessee, according to a list of corrupt states recently released by, which lists Tennessee as the most corrupt state in the country.

The Web site used the number of public corruption convictions, statewide fraud and embezzlement arrests, and compared various state laws to determine the most corrupt states in the nation.

The Daily Beast cited a former Newport Police captain's conviction on racketeering and drug trafficking charges in explaining why Tennessee had a "foolproof recipe for corruption."

Several of our neighbors join us in the top five.

Virginia, Mississippi, Delaware and North Carolina are all close behind Tennessee as the most corrupt states in The Union.

Yea, this article is bull. Tennessee # 1 and you never hear about it. Lol. Living in Illinois, now we know corruption. All Ive seen from the article is rebel cops dealing in "drugs" that are illegal, but whos to say they should be legal to consume. I like the fact that cops are dealing drugs anyway. Atleast I know then of a good place to get them. Also up here, as we put 2 former governors in jail for corruption, I would rather have cops standing up for my rights and if I want to smoke a joint, they could get it for me, than a politician stealing what I work for. And BTW Tina, lol. It's funny that we meet here. I am trying my hardest to make Sevierville or Sevier County my new home. Great place, and awesome people down there.

Okay. I get it, now. The numbers in the image gallery are a ranking - not a number of incidents. Hmmm. If there's that much on record, imagine how much us peons don't know.

I read the Daily Beast article, and looked at the image gallery. It's confusing me, because according to the image gallery, Tennessee is the LEAST corrupt state. Could you straighten me out, here?
