Knoxville (WVLT) He tried to run, but he didn't get far.
And in the end, his arrest was caught on tape.
The criminal court clerk's office says Vernon Monholland, 23, of Oglewood Drive, was charged with a violation of probation in Criminal Court this morning.
The probation violation stemmed from an outstanding warrant for Attempted Aggravated Burglary allegedly committed in 2005.
Knox County court officer Terry Branson handcuffed Monholland on the parole violation, and was finishing paperwork when Knox County Deputies say Monholland fled.
He didn't get far.
Branson tackled him on a walkway outside the first floor of the City-County Building.
But Monholland tried to get away, and Officer Tony Karnes tackled him again.
This time, he was taken into custody right in front of TV cameras at the City-County building to cover the Sunshine Law trial.
Monholland faces two counts of simple assault, fleeing, and resisting arrest.
Branson injured his knee and wrist, and he was treated and released from Baptist Hospital.
