Hyatte Expected to Take Plea Deal Today

Roane County (WVLT) - A woman accused in the murder of a corrections officer is expected to take a plea deal today.

Jennifer Hyatte has reportedly been offered a deal that would spare her the death penalty and give her life in prison in exchange for a guilty plea.

Hyatte is accused of shooting and killing Wayne "Cotton" Morgan while Morgan was transporting her husband from jail two years ago in Roane County.

Jennifer Hyatte is also accused of injuring Officer Larry Harris.

Hyatte's husband, George, is also charged with murder.

His trial is scheduled to begin in March 2008.
