Knoxville man arrested on charges of violating federal interstate transit law

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – A Knoxville man was arrested late Tuesday night and charged with interstate transportation of an individual with the intent to engage in prostitution or sexual activity.

Selvin Salvador Perdomo, 36 was taken into custody around 11:00 p.m. without incident.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation said his arrest came after a multi-agency investigation that involved members of their Atlantic division, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Knoxville Police Department, Clinton Police Department and Blount County Sheriff’s Office.

Perdomo was being held at the Blount County Detention Center as a “Federal Safe Housing” prisoner late Wednesday night. No bond has been set.

Authorities did not release any further information about the case.
