FluMist Approved for Young Children

Knoxville (WVLT) - Its never too early to think about getting your flu shot for this winter.

Wednesday, federal health officials approved nasal spray flu vaccine Astrazeneca Flumist for children under age 5.

Originally the nasal spray had been limited to patients ages five to 49 years old.

Flu shot vaccines can be used on younger children.

Health officials also say manufacturers expect to ship more than 130 million doses of flu vaccine in the coming months.
