2 Deaths Related To Baby Crib Recall

Knoxville (WVLT) - An urgent warning tonight for parents concerning Simplicity Incorporated Cribs.

A voluntary recall has been issued for one million cribs affecting several models.

The drop side can detach from the crib which can create a dangerous gap and possibly entrap and suffocate the an infant.

Consumer Product Safety Commission is aware of two deaths and is investigating a third death.

The cribs, made in China, were sold nationwide in department stores, children's stores and other retailers from January 1998 through May of this year.

I am furious that this has happened! We as parents expect our children to be safe in the products we spend thousands of dollars on. It makes me sick to know that not only have my 2 children been at serious risk in these products but it takes three deaths for someone to stand up ans say "Hey! We are idiots! I'm sorry. We can't stand behind our product. And oh Yeah... we just now had enough funding built up to be able to tell you this! Sorry your kids died!" That is crap!!! I'm afraid to use any baby products or even let my children play with toys. It should not be this way. No one should have to worry when putting their baby to bed if it will be the last goodnight kiss of if letting them play with a toy will be the last giggle you will ever hear from them. It's wrong! This is America. We are better than that. Our children are worth more than a louzy dollar. I know mine are. I would like to know that I as a parent, I am doing everything in my power to protect my children. What about them?
