KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A three-year, multi-million dollar investment into its Knoxville-area network has certainly paid dividends for on major wireless carrier. AT&T boasted a 99% success rate last quarter in avoiding dropped calls, the company announced on Monday.
The telecommunications giant said from 2010 through 2012 it invested more than $175 million in its wireless and wireline networks, primarily focusing on expanding its 4G coverage and the overall performance if its network.
“We know the mobile Internet has become central to our customers’ lives, and we’re committed to driving both investment and innovation to deliver the best possible experience over the AT&T network,” said Chris Percy, vice president and general manager, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets for Tennessee, Kentucky and southern Indiana.
The company said it improved its service over six key categories in 2012, including activating new cell sites, adding capacity,upgrading cell sites to provide fast 4G LTE mobile Internet speeds, and deploying high-capacity Ethernet connections to cell sites.
