Firefighters battle 2 South Knoxville house fires early Tuesday

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Firefighters were dispatched to the second house fire of the day in south Knoxville Tuesday morning.

Around 6:40 a.m., emergency crews were called to the home on Belvedere Avenue. Officials said flames were shooting through the roof by the time firefighters arrived.

They also reported no one was inside the house at the time.

Earlier Tuesday, firefighters responded to a fire at an abandoned home on nearby Peachtree Street after a passerby called 911 shortly before 3:00 a.m. That home was fully engulfed by the time firefighters got there.

The house was called a total loss. No one was injured putting it out.
