Students at Green Magnet Math and Science Academy enjoyed a visit from "Abraham Lincoln" and an educational snack in his honor.
On Friday "Lincoln" visited the school, represented by impersonator, John Voehl, who visited classrooms to share interesting facts about the 16th president.
But the classrooms were not the only venue for education about American history. Nutrition and education converged as students enjoyed an "educational snack."
"The Knox County Schools Nutrition Department is providing special whole grain cookies for purchase in school cafeterias on Feb. 21 in honor of Presidents' Day week," said Jon Dickl, Director of School Nutrition. "The cookies feature the faces of every U.S. president. We believe nutrition can support education in the classroom, and this is one fun way we can do that."
