DALLAS (CBS/WVLT) - Both HBO and Variety magazine have confirmed that actor James Gandolfini has died in Italy at the age of 51.

Gandolfini was on vacation at the time.

The “Sopranos” actor recently appeared in “Zero Dark Thirty” and “The Incredible Burt Wonderstone.”

Gandolifini, who was an avid supporter of the US Military, produced a documentary for HBO titled Wartorn: 1861-2010, which detailed America’s major wars and the affects of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) on the soldiers who fought in each war.
