KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)-- It might only be November but Alzheimer's Tennessee isn't wasting any time getting ready for the 2013 Alzheimer's Walk in April.
On Wednesday, team captains joined together for a luncheon to get them ready for the big walk in April. Pat Summitt was there to help encourage the captains get their teams together and start fundraising now!
Coach Summitt was also on hand to present the first two grants from her recently formed foundation called The Pat Summitt Foundation.
"I'm very excited about warding the first two grants to Alzheimer's Tennessee and the UT Medical Center for their continued work and research to find a cure." said Coach Summitt
Both grants were $28,000 and will go to help Alzheimer's Tennessee buy a van to use within Alzheimer's community.
Last year, the Alzheimer's Walk in Knoxville brought in over $240,000 with more than 1500 walkers. This year they hope to bring in more walkers and money to raise more money than before.
