KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)-- The Knoxville Firefighters Association were fighting a different battle Sunday.
They're raising money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Firefighters stood at several busy intersections asking people to throw donations into their boots.
They say it's a tradition that has been carried on for more than 60 years.
Joel Goucher, Vice President Knoxville Firefighters Association, says this is something close to their hearts.
"We have a lot of firefighters within our own organization that have children that have some of the muscle disorders also so it is sort of a personal issue for us as well."
All of the proceeds from Sunday's event will go to families in the Knoxville area.
