KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)-- A homeless man faces charges following a stabbing at a north Knoxville shopping center late Sunday afternoon, according to the Knoxville Police Dept. Chicko Jett, 54, was arrested after he allegedly stabbed another homeless man and tried stabbing one more.
According to police, Jett stabbed 46 year-old John Estep in the mid-section and cut him on the hand during an argument involving several people. He also allegedly tried to stab 32 year-old William Wells.
Jett was arrested after a brief chase, officers said.
Although neither victim was willing to cooperate with investigators, authorities still went ahead and charged Jett because of the violent nature of the crime.
Jett has been charged with one count of Aggravated Assault, Attempted Aggravated Assault, Evading Arrest, and Public Intoxication. There were also two outstanding warrants against him for Violation of Probation and Failure to Appear.
He is being held on $83,000 bond.
