NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Authorities are investigating several fights involving more than a dozen inmates at the South Central Correctional Facility in Clifton that left one man dead.
According to WKRN-TV, the fights seemed to break out simultaneously around 1 p.m. Sunday in the facility's dining hall.
Officials say 15 inmates were involved. Five received injuries and were transported off-site to area hospitals. One inmate died at the facility from his injuries. His name has not been released.
Officials say no staff members were injured during the fights.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is looking into the incidents.
