KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) Bars and restaurants along the Cumberland "strip" are preparing for tens of thousands of walkers to pass by and through their establishment between Friday night and the wee hours of Sunday morning.
"We're preparing for about a week of sales, in one day," Neil Reynolds says about The Half Barrel bar.
The same is true for Whiskey Dix across the street. They've got live music ready to play between Friday and Saturday to try to entice as many people inside as possible. They're hoping people will take advantage of their front patio to pass the time with drinks and food.
The Goal Post has extra staff on hand for the weekend. Manager David Cooke says they prepare for this well in advance, knowing that people are going to be coming through to grab a bite to eat, or watch the game on the big screen.
T.J. Dembk and his crew at The Tin Roof have been cleaning and reorganizing their place. They are expecting crowds to pick up Friday evening.
"I can explain Saturday in one word. Chaos!" Dembk jokes. He added that he looks forward to the start of football season every year, and is glad to have the students back in town.
No matter where you plan to stop and watch the game, or prepare yourself for the game, there are plenty of options along The Strip, and plenty of barkeeps looking to help quench your thirst.
