SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A Sevierville teen charged with domestic assault has a different statement about what happened with a girl.
In a statement to police, Devin Schmidt says the 15-year-old girl he's charged with assaulting, was hitting him and that's when he grabbed her and told her to stop.
In a statement to police, Schmidt told officers, "She kept smacking me and she broke her own phone, throwing it at me and it's just stupid."
Police have confirmed that there is a surveillance camera recording of the incident, but won't release it because of the open investigation.
On Saturday, Schmidt was arrested and charged with domestic assault of a 15-year-old girl. The arrest warrant the father had drawn up, said that Schmidt had pushed he daughter against a brick wall and broke her cell phone.
Schmidt is a top senior scorer for the Sevier County High School Smoky Bears. He's not expected to play in Tuesday's semifinal playoff game.
