MARYVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Rescue crews have found the body of a missing fisherman who disappeared after the canoe he was in flipped over and he tried to swim for the shore late Sunday afternoon. Twenty-five year-old Edward Russell's body was found shortly after midnight Monday morning.
According to the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency, Russell was fishing with two other men, Eric Morgan, and James Parker, in the Harrison Branch of Tellico Lake around 5:00 p.m. when their canoe overturned and they were all thrown into the water.
Morgan stayed with the boat while Parker and Russell swam for the shore. Morgan was picked up by a passing boat and taken to Blount Memorial Hospital. Parker made it to shore and did not receive any medical treatment.
