Bob and Michele say goodbye on their last day (WVLT)
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Local 8 News This Morning is going to look a little different next week. Bob and Michele are moving off the anchor desk and into some new roles in the news and broadcast industry.
After 16 years, Bob is looking forward to a new venture and a more typical day:
"I’m eager to spend more time with my two young daughters, Haley and Hannah. Unfortunately, the schedule required to co-anchor Local 8 News This Morning made this difficult. For now, I’m planning to remain in East Tennessee and expand a radio news/sports network that I began about six years ago; right now, I’m currently heard on 25 Tennessee radio stations."
We hope you’ll join us in wishing Bob all the best and thanking him for his 16 years of commitment and dedication to Local 8 News and the viewers of East Tennessee.
For Michele, the news is that she’s moving into a new management role with new responsibilities here at WVLT:
“Those of you who know me, know how much I enjoy being connected to the community and helping with charitable events. It was something I did in my spare time. Now, I am being promoted to a managerial position here at WVLT-TV, where I will do this, FULL TIME. I am thrilled to take over as Director of Promotions and Community Service, effective July 1. The best part: I will get paid for what I love to do! Another benefit, I no longer have to get up at 2:00 am to anchor Local 8 News This Morning! As much as I enjoyed starting my day greeting East Tennessee, it's time to catch some Zzzzz's!”
You’ll still see Michele on Local 8 News when she shares her Volunteer Spirit stories every Friday at 4:00 pm and Monday mornings at 6:00am and from time to time, back on the anchor desk.
For Bob, Michele, and everyone at Local 8 News This Morning….thanks for watching us! We hope you’ll continue to join us every weekday from 4:26am-7am and depend on Local 8 News This Morning to keep you up to the minute….the minute you wake up!
