PORTSMOUTH TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) -- Authorities in Michigan say a boy who was upset because his friend had a better bicycle called 911 to falsely report that the friend had been killed.
The Bay County sheriff's department and Bay City police responded Saturday evening to a home in Portsmouth Township. Undersheriff Troy Cunningham says the boy, who is younger than 10, told 911 that there was "blood everywhere."
Deputies say no one was killed or injured at the home. Cunningham says apparent jealousy over the bike prompted the call.
The case is under investigation. The sheriff's department plans to forward its reports on the case for review by the prosecutor's office.
