KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Around thirty middle-school and high-school students were forced to make an extra stop this morning when their bus caught fire near the intersection of Bradshaw Garden and Pleasant Ridge shortly before 8:00 a.m., according to the Knoxville Police Dept.
All of the kids, who attend schools in Powell, were able to get off of the bus (number 249) safely through the front and rear exits. More buses soon arrived to take them the rest of the way.
Firefighters were able to put out the fire, which was locate in the front of the bus near the engine. Afterwards, the bus was towed and the road opened.
