Newport family seeks justice for puppy killed

NEWPORT, Tenn. (WVLT)-- One Newport family is seeking justice after someone broke into their home and killed their puppy.

The incident happened in broad daylight November 28.

Tonia Laforce told Local 8 News that when she and her three children walked into their home, they noticed someone broke in through the back door. Then they made the gruesom discovery.

Simon, their one-year-old Terrier was found dead in the kitchen in a puddle of blood.

"It's a cruel person that would come into your home and take your things but it's an evil person who would take a life," LaForce said.

She said Simon was her 8-year-old daughter Carly's best friend.

"He walked with her wherever she went. Anything she did, he was right by her side," she said.

Their Cocke County home was decorated for Christmas but LaForce said the holidays will be a difficult time, especially for Carly.

The family hopes police find the person responsible for their loss.

According to LaForce, the thief or theives ran off with several items including guns, a Kindle and medicine.

Anyone with any information is asked to call police. There is a $1,000 reward.
