SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Many businesses in Sevier County are ready to start hiring, with indications of a strong spring and summer tourism season ahead.
At Wilderness at the Smokies, they're hiring right now. The resort is full this weekend with thousands of people coming for a volleyball tournament. 180 teams from all of the region are in town to play on 21 courts set up at the Sevierville Convention Center.
The resort is already hiring for a number of positions, and plans to be around 600 employees by peak summer.
"We're in the middle of that and we'll continue on to hire people for the spring and summer season as we go through the next couple of months," said Ryan Willis, Wilderness spokesperson. "We'll have actually a few more employees due to a new ride we're going to be introducing here in April, the Cyclone Racer. So we'll be adding a few more guards a few people people outdoors, so it's going to be a big year for us."
Other places from Westgate Resort to Lumberjack Feud are opening also. Lumberjack Feud plans to add more year round salary positions.
