Campaign signs damaged in Blount County

FRIENDSVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The race for county commission in Blount County is heating up and some people have taken to vandalism.

Several wooden campaign signs in the Friendsville area have been chainsawed.

"We came out to see that that Blount County Chainsaw Massacre had happened and they had taken a chain saw and cut the middle out of our signs," said Tona Monroe, candidate for District 7.
"They cut the biggest portion out of the middle so you can't see it."

Now all that's left are sticks where the signs used to be.

Blount County Tax Revolt has offered a $500 reward for information leading to the person who is responsible. They have also signed on to paint 2 more signs to replace each one that have been destroyed.

Other candidates have reported signs being stolen in Blount County.
