Candlelight vigil for man killed in East Knoxville in early 2013

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A mother still doesn't know who killed her son in East Knoxville more than a year ago. Friends and family are helping her make sure the community doesn't forget a murderer is still on the loose.

Hope for Victims held a candlelight vigil on Asheville Highway Saturday night for 37-year-old Lee Byford.

Byford's body found January 5, 2013 in his SUV on Bonnie View Lane. That day was also his birthday. He had been shot twice.

Byford's mother lives in Arkansas now, but comes to East Tennessee often to work with the group in hopes of finding his killer.

"We know someone out there knows who took him. The person who took him, we just need them to come forward and accept responsibility," says Ann Marotti.

The family is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction. If you have any information, you're asked to call the Knoxville Police Department.
