KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)-- If you've ever gone through an automatic car wash, the one at 3 Minute Magic Carwash probably looks familiar. But it's what you drive through before your car is washed there that has people talking.
"I think it's pretty funny - I think it's a good way to get people engaged in the presidential campaign," said Leslie Douglas, who supports Mit Romney for president.
There's a car wash lane for President Obama supporters and one for Romney - and the folks at 3 Minute Magic Carwash are keeping tally.
"We're just having a little fun with the momentum that's being created with the debates and all of the awareness that's being generated," said owner Jim Rooney.
Jordan Hightower got in Romney's lane, since she'll probably vote for him.
"I'm not 100 percent sure yet - I have to finish you know, keeping up with what's going on, but more than likely, yeah," said Hightower.
Brittney Moore drove through Obama's lane.
"He's taking a lot of heat, but I think he came into office with a big obstacle to overcome and I think he is moving this country forward," said Moore.
Jim McCracken got in Obama's lane, too:
"Oh no! No! Sorry, I'm in the wrong lane! You're going to have to delete me I guess - sorry about that, I'm definitely a Romeny supporter," said McCracken.
If you get in the wrong lane, don't worry - the car wash has an "oops clipboard", so you can still change your vote.
No matter which lane you go through, the car wash said it's all about getting people to the polls.
"Our whole goal is just to raise the awareness, raise the interest in the election and get people to the polls on November 6th. All too often people talk about it, but they don't take the time to get down and actually vote," said Rooney.
You can "Wash the Vote" through election day.
3 Minute Magic Carwash owners said they're keeping count and will post the results on their Facebook page.
All three locations - Lovell road, Lenoir City and Fountain City - are participating in "Wash the Vote."
