Coalfield player charged with assault after post-game incident

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - An 18-year-old Coalfield High School baseball player has been charged after a Friday incident after a game.

Brent Keener has been charged with one count of assault.

Cell phone video showed a Coalfield player throwing a punch at an umpire during an altercation following Friday's game with Wartburg.

The Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association has levied sanctions against the Coalfield baseball program.

The team cannot play the rest of the season and have been banned from post season play for the 2015 season. The program has also been ordered to pay a $3,000 fine.
