COCKE COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT)-- Authorities are investigating the death of a Cocke County man who reportedly died in an accidental shooting.
It happened in the driveway of a Carson Springs Road home just before 1 p.m. Tuesday.
According to Sheriff Armando Fontes, Richard Lane, 42, died of a gunshot wound to the chest. Lane's wife told officers she was handing him the gun when it discharged.
Sheriff Fontes told Local 8 News they're looking into Lane's wife's story.
They're waiting on a polygraph and the autopsy.
Investigators are also looking into any patterns of abuse or history of abuse at the home.
