Drunk driver responsible for killing 21-year-old gets 2 day sentence

Cocke County, Tenn. (WVLT) - Former Cocke County Election Commissioner, Dan Ford, pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide.

A judge sentenced him to five years in a deferral program and probation.

But first, he'll spend 48 hours in jail for DUI. Ford hit and killed 21-year-old Katelin Richardson as she rode her bicycle back in July 2011.

We spoke with Katelin's grandmother who lives in New York.

"48 hours... I don't see that as justice that man took her life," said Richardson's grandmother, Joan Schaeffer.

The District Attorney said Ford's light sentence came after an investigation revealed Richardson didn't have proper lighting on her bike nor was she riding in the right lane.
