WARTBURG, Tenn. (AP) -- The National Park Service is offering rock climbing with a ranger in East Tennessee.
The free event on May 4 at the Obed Wild and Scenic River is geared to all skill levels and ages. There will be help for people who've never tried the sport before, and all gear will be provided.
No reservations are needed. Meet at 11 a.m. at the Lilly Bridge near Wartburg for the Climb with a Ranger program. Participants need sturdy footwear, drinking water and a spirit of adventure.
People who are more curious than adventurous might enjoy Coffee with a Ranger from 8:30-11:30 the same day at the same bridge, where rangers will answer questions about the river.
Questions about the events will be answered at (423)346-6294.
