College student from Gallatin found dead at NJ home

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP) -- Authorities in New Jersey say they're not sure what led to the fatal beating of a college student from Tennessee.

Middlesex County prosecutors say William McCaw was found dead in the backyard of a New Brunswick home around 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

The 22-year-old Gallatin resident was a student at Kean College in north Jersey, about 25 miles away from where he was found. But he had previously attended Rutgers University and would often return to the New Brunswick area to visit friends.

Middlesex County prosecutors say McCaw had no connection to the people who lived at the home, and it's not clear where the attack occurred.

McCaw was pronounced dead at the scene. A cause of death has not been disclosed, but prosecutors say he suffered blunt force trauma.
