Bean Station pharmacy reopening weeks after deadly shootout

BEAN STATION, Tenn. (WVLT) More than a month since a fatal shootout that left two dead and two hospitalized, the Down Home Pharmacy in Bean Station reopens Monday.

The pharmacy closed after former officer Jason Holt shot four people in the store execution style while robbing it at the end of May. Pharmacist Steven Lovell and a customer shopping there, Richard Sommerville, both died.

"It was just devastating. First we heard it was one place and then another. I was at work. And it's just a small place. A small town. And you figure this would happen somewhere else," said Judy McCampbell.

It was a tough hit for the small, close-knit community. But ask anyone, and they'll tell you they're glad to see it reopen.

"Well it's just good to have, to see them back in business. And I know the people that own the place. And when they do get customers back in, I'll be glad to see everyone back in," said Roger Price.

The announcement came by Facebook, announcing the store would be reopened by Steven Lovell's wife Suzanne. Don Zazzi will be the new pharmacist, and customers can expect to see new security measures in place

Local 8 News will be there as the pharmacy celebrates opening day.
