CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) -- Testimony continues in the trial a Hamilton County couple charged in the fatal shooting of their 2-year-old daughter.
Samantha and Thomas Wallace are being tried on charges of criminally negligent homicide in the July 2010 death of Camron Wallace.
Investigators said the child died when her 5-year-old stepbrother accidentally shot her in the chest with a pistol he took from a drawer of a nightstand in the parents' bedroom.
The Chattanooga Times Free Press (http://bit.ly/12sjAK1 ) reported defense attorneys told jurors that just days before Camron's death, a group of men knocked on the couple's front door at 2 a.m., and there had been reports of home invasions in the neighborhood.
Chattanooga police Det. James Tate testified Tuesday, telling jurors the neighborhood is considered a low income and high crime location.
