HAWKINS COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Deputies say they were called Saturday night about a man who had forced his way inside a home on Manis Road and shot a woman.
They say 31-year-old Rodney Bailey is accused of breaking in through the back door. When 32-year-old Sara Davis and 30-year-old Ronnie William heard it, they got out of bed to check it out.
That's when they say Bailey kicked the bedroom door open, hit William in the head with his gun, and shot Davis in the stomach.
Deputies say during a fight, William managed to get the gun away from Bailey.
Bailey is Davis' ex-boyfriend. Her two children, ages 7 and 9, were inside at the time.
Davis was taken to Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport.
He is charged with two counts of Attempted First Degree Murder, Especially Aggravated Burglary, two counts of Felony Reckless Endangerment, Possession of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony, and Vandalism.
