NEWPORT, Tenn. (WVLT)-- Two men wanted for robbing a bank in Newport the day after Christmas have been arrested.
According to police, Brandy Joe Charles, 39, and Anthony Clifton, 22, were indicted for bank robbery and other charges.
"We're just elated they were caught, that they're out of the public and can't harm anyone else right now," said Newport Police Chief Maurice Shults.
Charles and Clifton reportedly robbed the Tennessee State Bank on the 100 block of Epley Road in Newport Dec 26.
Surveillance pictures released by authorities showed the two men armed inside the bank and walking out with an undisclosed amount of money.
"As they were walking out and were confronted by one of our officers, they held him at gunpoint with one an assault rifle, disarmed him, took his patrol car and took off," Chief Shults said.
Nearly a year later, Shults said the two men were arrested in Texas and North Carolina. He said Charles was already in jail on an unrelated charge and that a lead resulted in Clifton's capture.
The FBI also assisted in the case.
