Crimetracker: Blount County narcotics officers respond to meth lab

BLOUNT COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Blount County Sheriff James Lee Berrong said members of the Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force responded to a non-operational meth lab on Old Cloverhill Road Thursday night.

One man is in custody at the Blount County Detention Facility, but he has not yet been charged.

At around 6:30 p.m., investigators with the Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at a residence on Old Cloverhill Road. When they arrived, they found a non-operational meth lab inside the residence.

The Tennessee Methamphetamine Task Force will dispose of the lab. The Blount County Fire Department also responded to the scene.

The Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force is comprised of deputies and officers with the Blount County Sheriff’s Office, the Alcoa Police Department, and the Maryville Police Department. All investigators with the Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force are members of the Tennessee Methamphetamine Task Force.
