MAYNARDVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Four young children, ages five to eight, were along for the ride during a high speed chase through two East Tennessee counties on Thursday, according to the Union Co. Sheriff's Office.

Union Co. Sheriff's deputies picked up the chase around 4:30 p.m. as the driver, identified as Billy Ray Fox, raced toward the county line.

Authorities in Anderson Co. told their Union Co. counterparts that Fox was wanted in connection with a burglary that just happened.

At its peak, nine police cruisers, including one from the Maynardville Police Dept., joined in the chase, which reached triple-digit speeds down Hickory Valley Rd.

Officers started block intersections in an attempt to limit Fox's escape route and guard public safety. They were finally able to corner his Pontiac Grand Am at the intersection of Hickory Valley Road and Ridge Road.

Surrounding the vehicle, officers found the four children inside it as well as 27 year-old Heather Buchanan, who was wanted as an accessory to the burglary.

Fox and Buchanan were both arrested and taken to the Anderson Co. jail on multiple charges, officials said. They listed Fox's charges in Union Co. as five counts of Reckless Endangerment, four counts of Child Endangerment, Driving on a Revoked License (4th offense), Felony Evading, Driving at Speeds over 100 mph. Failure to Yield to Emergency Equipment, two counts of Failure to Obey a Traffic Control Device, and two counts of Violating the Child Restraint Law. He will also face more charges in Anderson Co.

The Dept. of Children Services took custody of the four children.
