KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- An unloaded .357 magnum handgun was confiscated from a seventh grade student at Bearden Middle School Monday, according to police.
A tip led to the discovery of the weapon. No ammunition was found. The boy was taken to the juvenile detention facility where he was charged with possession of a handgun on school property.
According to Knox County Schools, The Bearden Middle School administrators, teachers, and security personnel handled the situation admirably and with no interruption to the instructional day. Parents of Bearden Middle School students were notified of the incident by the parental notification system.
