ANDERSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) -- After a two day trial, an Anderson County jury found Michael Hernandez guilty on one count of Rape of a Child because his victim was younger than 13 years old.
Rape of a Child is a Class A Felony which is Tennessee's most serious category short of capital murder, according to District Attorney General Dave Clark.
Clark said, "the State is pleased with the verdict... it is humbling to witness the bravery of the young victim who got on the witness stand and testified in front of the perpetrator and described the details of what happened to her."
Hernandez is scheduled for sentencing June 10. He faces 15 to 60 years in prison.
