NEW MARKET, Tenn.(WVLT)--A man suspected of owning and distributing child pornography was killed in a shootout with the FBI.
The FBI says an agent was trying to serve a warrant for child porn on Scott Edward Evans on Wednesday morning.
Evans lives on Stapleton Road in New Market.
They said they started looking at Evans as a suspect after his email address was found linked to a massive pornography ring based out of Australia.
The Queensland Police found hundreds of American email addresses when they made a local bust.
Court documents reveal thousands of images of child pornography and beastiality were involved in the criminal operation which ran through Craigslist.
When the FBI went to serve the warrants shots were fired and Evans was killed.
Per FBI policy the shooting incident is under investigation by the FBI’s Inspection Division.
