MARYVILLE, Tenn (WVLT) -- A Maryville man is behind bars, after investigators say he ran a vehicle off the road, smash into a tree and drove home.
Steve Franklin Johnson is charged with DUI and driving on a revoked license. The Blount County Sheriff's Office says an off-duty Sheriff's deputy saw him driving recklessly on Montvale Road. Investigators say his Jeep Cherokee went off the road several times and forced another car off the road. The deputy followed Johnson, and says he went into a ditch and hit a tree. They say he then left the scene and drove to his home.
When deputies caught up to Johnson, they say he refused to take a sobriety test. They took him to the hospital for a mandatory blood test.
Johnson is in jail without bond. His court date has not been set yet. Johnson lost his license back in 1995, after serving time on a vehicular homicide charge out of Shelby County.
