KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Local 8 News is learning more about the parents of a 6 month old girl, charged with her dead.
Kelsey Major died after she was shot at her home on Alcoa Highway Wednesday. Police said she was caught in the middle of an argument between her parents, Angela Major and Ken Mason. During the dispute, a gun was fired. The bullet went through Angela Major's wrist and ultimately hit Kelsey in the head.
The details of what happened between Major and Mason prior to the shooting are still unknown.
Those who know Angela describe her as a good mother. Mindy Miller, a friend of Angela's said, "I've known her for about six years. She has had some problems, but she was trying to straighten up since her pregnancy with Kelsey."
Friends of Angela are in shock at the news of Kelsey's death. Tiffany Rucker said, "It just breaks my heart to know that she never really had a chance to live."
Both Major and Mason have been charged with reckless homicide. They are each being held on $1 million bond. They're scheduled to appear in court July 1.
