Crimetracker: Armed robbery at Knoxville Sonic

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Knoxville Police say the Sonic close to John Sevier and Chapman Highway was robbed Sunday.

It happened just minutes before 6:30 PM.

Officers say a white car pulled into the lot, parked, and ordered a drink.

When an employee approached the car with the drink the driver got out, grabbed the employee's shirt and pointed a small handgun at her stomach.

That's when police say the suspect told her to throw her money into the car.

The employee gave the robber her money and walked away.

The white car drove off.

Police are looking for a larger white male wearing a black jacket.

The car appeared to be a large 4-door Ford Crown Victoria.
