Crimetracker: Seymour woman claims she killed husband in self-defense

SEYMOUR, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A Seymour woman is claiming she shot and killed her 64 year-old husband in self-defense during a domestic dispute. According to the Sevier Co. Sheriff Jeff McCarter, the woman showed up at the sheriff's office around 6:00 p.m. Wednesday night with another woman and told authorities she just shot her husband.

Just prior to that, a man called 911 and told police he had been shot. By the time emergency crews could respond to the home on Estates Drive, he had died. McCarter identified the victim as Donald Gregory.

Gregory's wife, who lived in the Estates Dr. home with her daughter, told investigators she shot him in self-defense.

Members of the sheriff's office and the TBI are still investigating the incident and the District Attorney General will review the case when the investigation concludes, McCarter explained.

Gregory's body was taken to UT Medical Center for an autopsy.
