KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Knox Co. Sheriff's Office wants to who has been stealing cars and setting them on fire. In some cases, the suspects would use the vehicles to commit other crimes before torching them.
The first time it happened was back in April, when the suspect or suspects stole a pickup truck on Chapman Highway. It was later found burned on Burnett Creek Road.
The most recent theft came last week when a Ford van stolen from Mount Olive Baptist Church. The van turned up again on surveillance video from the scene of an ATM robbery.
On the tape, you can see the van back up to the front window and the suspect get out. After smashes the window with a sledgehammer, he wraps a chain around the ATM and uses the van to drag it off. The Sheriff's Office posted the whole video on YouTube. You can watch it below.
In all, 10 vehicles have been stolen and found burned that day or the next.
Anyone with information is asked to call either the sheriff's office at 865-215-2243. The Tennessee Division of Fire Prevention is also offering a reward through its arson tip line.
